RYDER make-up labs Fundamentals of Make-up for the Motion Picture Industry workshop is a 50+ hour hands-on training workshop that explores every aspect of realistic make-up for film and video. Apply corrective and camouflage make-up, body make-up, men's make-up, beauty make-up, casualty make-up and more. Design characters, make them come alive and evolve for the camera. Be able to create any realistic make-up effect called for in a script, then take it all off and do it again - but faster and better. Create, change, improvise, customize, build confidence, develop your personal style, and be able to copy anyone else's! |

Fundamental Make-up Skills Day 1, 2
Corrective and Camouflage Make-up
Body Make-up
Beauty Make-up
Men’s Make-up
Character Make-up
Period Make-up
Light Special Effects Make-up Day 3, 4
Light special effects make-up - change skin texture, age/distress the face
Casualty make-ups - cuts, bruises, burns, bullet holes, decomposing skin, and a variety of blood effects
Sculpt clay molds and manufacture a variety of small prosthetic pieces
Dramatic Character Make-up
Review script/action sequence breakdowns, principles of continuity, and practice techniques for making quick changes and recovering scene-specific looks using Polaroid pictures.
Production Meeting - Students receive a call sheet and scripted scenes for shooting day
Working with a Script - Photo Shoot Day 5
Work as a make-up department team
Establish and maintain continuity - Perform each character's make-up changes within the order and timeframe of the shooting schedule

Correspondence Course 6 Months (actual completion time may vary depending on quality of work submitted) Each student must complete 6 separate complex make-up assignments. Each assignment contains step by step instructions. Students submit images of their assignments for critique. Any of the six assignments may be resubmitted as many times as necessary until proficiency is achieved. After successfully completing the classroom and correspondence portion of the workshop, participants receive a certificate. |

Models and Materials All models and materials are provided for the classroom portion of the workshop. All make-ups are photographed and discs are made available to all participants for a small fee. *Participants in this workshop are carefully chosen to fit the pace and level of intesity of the workshop.
